Yasser Arafat, the past and present leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) made his come-back to Palestine in March 1994. After an absence of 25 years he visited again his home-land.

The following is a record of this day. Please note that the Israel-PLO Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements will soon have come to the end of its term. Signed on 13 September 1993, it provided for a transitional period of Palestinian interim self-government in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank not exceeding five years.
